Egan, Margaret Ann (Magnussen)
Egan, Margaret Ann (Magnussen), passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness late Wednesday.

Born in the Bay Ridge section of Brooklyn, N.Y. she was the daughter of Norwegian immigrant parents, the late Charles Olaf Magnussen and Othelia Theodora Olsen. A graduate of Bay Ridge High School, she worked in the financial district in Manhattan for the Insurance Company of North America until her marriage in 1946 to the late Francis J. Egan.

She was the beloved mother of Marguerite A. Donley of Hyannis, David J. Egan of Cottonwood, Arizona, Mark F. Egan of Lynn, MA, and Carol J. Carlson of West Yarmouth. In addition she is survived by 14 grandchildren, Scott A. Donley, Jennifer A. Varbanov, Todd C. Donley; Sean D. Egan, Amanda L. Cripps; Elizabeth Klopfer, Joseph R. Egan, Mark D. Egan; Gerald J. Shaw, Jonathan B. Shaw, Addie M. Lawrence, Benjamin A. Shaw, Christopher Carlson, and Zachary K. Carlson. She is also survived by 14 great grandchildren.

She enjoyed writing, especially poetry and was published on many occasions throughout her life. She was an avid gardener and nature lover, the subject of her many writings. As a stay-at-home mom, she enjoyed homemaking and raising her four children. She was a 41 year member of St. Davidís Episcopal Church in South Yarmouth.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, Einar, and Norman Magnussen.

Visitation will be on Monday, Nov. 17, from 6 to 9pm. at Hallett Funeral Home, Station Ave. South Yarmouth.

A funeral service will be celebrated at 10:00am on Tuesday, Nov. 18, at St. Davidís Episcopal Church, Main Street, South Yarmouth.
